A man has suffocated on Phillip Island, south of Melbourne, only one week after somebody kicked the bucket while going for a swim on Christmas Day.

The man got into trouble while swimming at Woolamai Beach, however safeguard endeavors to contact him were not effective.

Police said his body was found in regards to 20 minutes after the fact.

The man is yet to be formally distinguished.

Woolamai Beach is a similar place a Queensland man suffocated while going for a Christmas Day swim with his family.

The 29-year-old had gone to the shoreline with family, and was swimming at 5:30pm when he got into trouble.
